Czech Wine Participation in Taiwan: 2 Events, 4 Wineries and Over 700 Participants
Strengthening the presence of Czech wines and spirits in Taiwan. In 2025, the Czech Republic presented itself for the second time at the International Wine & Liquor Promotion (IWLP) in Taipei, Taiwan, confirming its growing interest in the Taiwanese wine and spirits market. The main part of the program took place on December 12, 2025, in the representative premises of the Regent Hotel Taipei and was complemented by a separate tasting event for the trade held the day before.
The IWLP is organized annually by the Importers and Exporters Association of Taipei (IEAT) and serves as an important platform for presenting foreign wines and spirits to Taiwanese importers, distributors, and other professionals in the industry. This year’s edition attracted more than 700 trade visitors, demonstrating strong interest in new brands and less traditional wine regions.
The Czech participation was organized in cooperation with the National Wine Centre, which selected producers representing both the long-standing winemaking tradition of the Czech Republic and contemporary trends and modern production styles. At IWLP 2025, the following wineries were showcased: Syfany, Škrobák, and Vinné sklepy Kutná Hora, which continued their successful participation from the previous year. Joining them for the first time was Válka. In addition to wines, the Czech offering also included the premium spirit Garage 22 Gin, enriching the presentation with another segment of alcoholic beverages.

A significant addition to the official presentation at IWLP was a private tasting, held the day before the main event at the Czech restaurant Divadlo in Taipei. This more intimate format was intended for selected alcohol trade professionals, with eight companies focused on the import and distribution of alcoholic beverages participating. The informal atmosphere allowed for more detailed introductions of individual products, deeper discussions about their origins and styles, and the establishment of personal contacts with potential business partners.

Together, both events contributed to increasing awareness of the quality of Czech wines and spirits in the Taiwanese market. The interest from the trade confirmed that local consumers and distributors are open to new brands and non-traditional wine regions. Taiwan thus represents a promising yet challenging market, where long-term and systematic efforts are needed to build a brand and trust in Czech products.
The Czech participation in IWLP 2025 and the accompanying tasting event were supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and organized with the involvement of the Czech Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei. Organizers believe that combining official presentation on an international platform with targeted meetings with professionals will help transform initial interest in Czech wines and spirits into concrete business cooperation and stable representation in the Taiwanese market.
Finally, thanks to all participating winemakers and producers who contributed to the Czech Republic’s presentation in Taiwan. Their quality wines and openness in sharing their stories help promote the good reputation of Czech winemaking abroad. Direct involvement of producers and open dialogue with trade professionals are key elements of successful promotion in distant markets.
